Hydrophobic Surface Treatment Solvent (HSTS) 

This surface treatment solvent is specifically designed to work with the 5S-BASE Sol-gel solution.  This chemical will organically modify the surface of a dry film of the 5S-BASE formulation.  By modifying the surface of the film,  you reduce the heat load capacity of the 5S-BASE coating to approximately 200C before thermal breakdown occurs.  This process works great for applications which require the 5S-BASE coating to be fully hydrophobic.  The hydrophobicity occurs via a molecular exchange surface reaction by cleaving hydroxyl radicals from the surface and replacing them with methyl groups,  thus rendering the surface hydrophobic.
